6 January 2009 2:30 AM, PST | From Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news

Sony Pictures Classics has released The Wackness on DVD. The Indie comedy, winner of the Audience Award for a drama at Sundance, features Josh Peck as a teenage pot dealer, who not only sells weed to his therapist (Ben Kingsley) but also falls in love with his stepdaughter.

Today's other releases include Pineapple Express, which stars Seth Rogen as a stoner who is the only witness to a murder committed by a drug lord and crooked cop; the crime drama Righteous Kill, which teams Robert De Niro and Al Pacino as veteran detectives hunting a vigilante serial killer; Nicholas Cage's turn as a hitman in Bangkok Dangerous; the latest Hollywood parody, Disaster Movie; and Vin Diesel's Babylon A.D., which was even criticized by its director, Mathieu Kassovitz.

Perhaps just writing this will motivate me to do so because I did thoroughly enjoy what amounts to an R-rated soap opera the first time around and with Peter O'Toole joining the cast for the second season how could I not enjoy this one? 5 January 2009 11:18 AM, PST | From FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news

Another busy week of Blu-ray releases, everything from fan favorites to more padding for your Blu-ray collection, should you choose to go that route... Serenity (December 30) Would it be a crime against geekdom if I admitted to only having seen bits and pieces of Joss Whedon's Serenity? Of course it is. ...

Babylon A.D. is actually two separate films, one with some noble themes worthy of exploration and one that is a derivative action film.  Unfortunately, you have to suffer through the latter before the film oddly shifts gears and begins lightly exploring the former. The film is based on Maurice Georges Dantec’s Babylon Babies, a science fiction novel exploring the notion of artificial intelligence being given organic life. In an interview on the DVD, on sale Tuesday, he wisely notes that he had written the book, said what he had to say and left the rest up to the filmmakers.

In the hands of writer Éric Besnard and French director Mathieu Kassovitz, the movie is a mess. The dark near-future, Europe has collapsed and anarchy or big business rules in place of government.  Vin Diesel stars as Toorop, a mercenary, who is coerced into boydguarding a young woman, heading from
